Arthur Davtyan on the Completion of Manvel Grigoryan's Charges

Today, during a conversation with reporters, the Attorney General of Armenia, Arthur Davtyan, addressed the completion of charges against former president of the Yerkrapah Volunteer Union and former MP Manvel Grigoryan.

He stated that the investigation has been ongoing for seven to eight months and various new incidents are being examined, hence it is evident that the charges will be completed based on the incidents that will yield sufficient evidence. “In the overwhelming majority of cases, the charges differ in the initial and final phases of criminal cases,” he said.

When prompted by one of the reporters, Arthur Davtyan responded to a statement from Manvel Grigoryan's lawyer claiming that the Attorney General personally approached the protesters, agreeing with their viewpoint. Davtyan remarked, “That is a very erroneous and unacceptable interpretation, as it was no secret that the appeal we submitted had been made public before my descent. In this situation, the prosecutor’s office acts in favor of the charges, having submitted the appeal based on the grounds it holds, so there can be no question of presenting a biased stance or divulging non-public information. The prosecutor himself has already participated in that discussion and has decided that it will be appealed, meaning we are dealing with an unfounded, illegal judicial act.”

As for the rumors about his potential replacement, Arthur Davtyan responded, “I think serious issues have been concluded.”
