Kremlin Denies Report on Sending Russian Soldiers to Venezuela
The press secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, has denied reports about sending military personnel from a Russian private military company to Venezuela.
"No, of course," Peskov said during the "Moscow, Kremlin, Putin" program, responding to a question from the host regarding the claim that 100 Russian fighters had been sent to Venezuela to back Nicolás Maduro. He amusingly referenced a Russian saying: "Fear has big eyes."
Earlier this week, several media outlets reported that contractual servicemen had arrived in Venezuela from Russia to provide protection for Maduro.
