We are closely monitoring the developments in Venezuela: Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia has issued a statement regarding the protests occurring in Venezuela.
"We are closely monitoring the developments in Venezuela and hope that the situation will be resolved peacefully," the statement reads.
It is noteworthy that since January 21, a total of 364 citizens have been detained during the ongoing protests, according to Alfredo Romero, head of the non-governmental organization "Venezuelan Criminal Forum."
Meanwhile, protests and marches against ruling President Nicolas Maduro have continued for the fourth consecutive day in Venezuela. On January 23, opposition leader Juan Guaidó declared himself the interim leader of the country.
The self-proclaimed Guaidó has already been recognized as the interim president of Venezuela by the United States, Canada, and most Latin American countries. However, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that the only legitimate leader of Venezuela is Nicolas Maduro.
