VIDEO: EAEU Presidency Transferred from Russia to Armenia

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is currently in Moscow on a working visit and is delivering a speech at the headquarters of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

It is noteworthy that the EAEU presidency is being transferred from Russia to Armenia this year, 2019. On the occasion of Armenia’s presidency within the EAEU, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is addressing the members of the Eurasian Economic Commission in Moscow. He first praised their work and then read his address directed to the heads of the EAEU member states.

The statement mentions that Armenia is assuming the presidency on the 5th anniversary of the establishment of the organization, and during these five years, the union has demonstrated its viability.

This integration direction, as highlighted in Pashinyan's speech, is a priority for Armenia. “Armenia, for its part, will make every effort to maintain the positive dynamics of integration and resolve the issues that can provide additional impetus for the economic growth of our states,” said Pashinyan.

The Prime Minister also pointed out several priorities, with the energy sector being the first, as it is fundamental to ensuring equal and non-discriminatory economic competition. “In this context, we need to actively work on implementing programs aimed at developing common markets for oil, petroleum products, and gas, as well as forming a common electricity market,” stated Pashinyan.
