Police Reveals Misappropriation of 394 Million Drams Within the System

The police emphasize the daily struggle against corrupt practices within the system in the context of uncovering corrupt phenomena and preventing corruption risks. This information was stated in a press release issued by the Police of the Republic of Armenia.

“In line with the adopted policy, the self-cleaning process within the police continues. As a result of extensive measures undertaken within the framework of service investigations conducted by the Internal Security Department and audits in subdivisions under the Police Patrol and Public Security Department, preliminary findings indicate financial violations and abuses amounting to 394 million 826 thousand 218 drams committed by officials of these subdivisions. During the service investigations, damages caused to the state amounted to 144 million 704 thousand 246 drams have been recovered.

Considering that sufficient factual data has been obtained regarding the misappropriation of the mentioned amounts, as well as the presence of criminal elements in the actions of public officials, the findings of the service investigations conducted by the Internal Security Department have been forwarded to the Special Investigative Service, where criminal cases have been initiated concerning large and especially large-scale misappropriations, and a pretrial investigation is underway. Additional checks are being conducted to determine the actual extent of the damage caused to the state.

The police will remain consistent in combating any manifestation of corruption, adhering primarily to the fundamental principle of cleansing and safeguarding the law enforcement system from this affliction.”
