One in Twenty Residents in Alaverdi Have Malignant Neoplasms

The Minister of Health, Arsen Torosyan, recently announced that starting this year, the government will cover the costs of surgeries for malignant tumors, adding that they also plan to make radiation therapy and chemotherapy free of charge.

According to an investigation by Hetq, the statistics on malignant neoplasms in Alaverdi reveal that from 2011 to 2017, their number has increased by 1.3 times (data for 2018 has yet to be published).

One in twenty residents in Alaverdi has a malignant neoplasm, with over half of the patients being women.

On average, about 110 people annually are diagnosed with cancer for the first time, with the most common types being malignant neoplasms of the breast, trachea, bronchi, lungs, and stomach.
