Manvel Grigoryan Files Lawsuit for 3 Million AMD: Claims Damage to Honor

The detained General-Lieutenant Manvel Grigoryan has filed a lawsuit in the Yerevan General Jurisdiction Court against the news outlet "Maxinfo" for damages to his honor and dignity. This was stated to Tert.am by Manvel Grigoryan's representative, lawyer Karen Ghonyan.

"The claim demands compensation of 3 million AMD, which will later be donated to one of the orphanages. The issue is not the amount, but rather the reduction of irresponsible statements that harm honor and dignity," he emphasized.

Karen Ghonyan did not rule out the possibility of filing further lawsuits related to other publications in the future.

In an interview with the media outlet, the lawyer noted that "Maxinfo" published an article titled "Trade with Turks: Another Scandalous Revelation about Manvel Grigoryan," which stated that Manvel Grigoryan had previously sold 1,500 sheep entrusted to him by Vazgen Sargsyan to Turks.

The article mentions Aanahit Mnatsakanyan, who writes: "My husband, Karen Zarbabyan, was appointed the head of the Sisian division of internal affairs that year and also served as the mayor of Sisian region. It was 1991-1992, during the hottest phase of the Nagorno-Karabakh War, and it was crucial to maintain the security of border areas. Within a few days, Turkish marauders had invaded villages near Sisian from adjacent Azerbaijani settlements and stolen livestock.

In order to return the stolen livestock, under Karen's leadership, reconnaissance operations were carried out for three days in the highlands around Sisian. For three days, our operational group, under the harsh Sisian winds, conducted military operations and confiscated 1,500 sheep from Azerbaijani territory.

Karen informed Vazgen Sargsyan about this, and under his direct order, those 1,500 sheep were handed over to Manvel Grigoryan. Strict measures were taken by Karen to ensure that no resident would dare to take even one sheep from that herd, and even the operational group carrying out the actions did not dare to violate Karen's orders for the sake of a full stomach. The 1,500 sheep were handed over to Manvel Grigoryan, and after some time, information was received that those 1,500 sheep had been sold to Turks."
