I Cannot Negotiate on Behalf of Artsakh, Prime Minister Clarifies

“I have said many times that I represent and can represent the Republic of Armenia in these negotiations; I cannot represent the Republic of Artsakh for the simple reason that the citizens of Artsakh do not participate in the elections of the Republic of Armenia.” This was stated today by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a press conference held in Moscow, addressing the issue of Artsakh returning to the negotiation table.

“They do not elect me as their prime minister; they elect their own president, have their own government, their own parliament. Therefore, I cannot conduct negotiations on behalf of Nagorno-Karabakh, I can conduct negotiations on behalf of Armenia, and everything is happening that way,” said Nikol Pashinyan.

The Prime Minister noted that he cannot disclose the entire content of his conversations with Aliyev because it is not ethically appropriate, but the general themes of the discussions are published, and the content of those conversations corresponds to his public statements as prime minister.
