"Serzh Sargsyan Successfully Slipped Away": Arman Melikyan

Arman Melikyan, the former Foreign Minister of Artsakh, wrote on his Facebook page:

"The issue for us is not that the peoples are being called to prepare for peace, but rather under what conditions, or more bluntly, at the expense of which party's vital interests should this peace be established. Essentially, the handover of territories has been publicly guaranteed by Serzh Sargsyan, who successfully slipped away in May, but he did everything necessary beforehand to make the handover of territories a reality by the hand of his successor.

Moreover, Sargsyan’s justification was that the territories would be handed over in exchange for granting Artsakh an independent status, while now the discussions about the status have been extinguished. This has also been a result of the negotiated "achievements" recorded during his last two years in power, along with the April war.

We can have an effective foreign policy that will safeguard us from senseless and dangerous losses, but for that, the Armenian authorities must first desire to conduct a policy, and then involve the necessary professional capacity to develop and implement it."
