Black Ice, Difficult and Closed Roads: Situation in Armenia
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that as of January 24 at 20:00, there are difficult and closed roads across the territory of Armenia.
The Vardenyats Pass is closed only for trucks, while it is passable with difficulty for passenger vehicles.
Black ice is present in some areas on the Sotk-Karabagh road, as well as on roads in the Shirak region, particularly in the districts of Ashotsk and Amasia, and in the Syunik region.
Drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires.
About Larsi
According to information from the Road Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, the Stepantsminda-Larsi road is open for all types of vehicles.
Ongoing Construction Work
Construction work is underway on the Vanadzor-Alaverdi road from kilometer 39 to Bagratashen.
The following alternative routes for transportation have been established:
- Transportation within communities to the cities of Alaverdi and Vanadzor and nearby settlements is to be conducted via:
- Vanadzor-Stepanavan-Agarak-Koghes-Aygehart-Odzun-Alaverdi road sections towards the Georgian border.
Note: From June 30, 2018, to January 24 of this year, construction work is being carried out on the 139th kilometer of the Yerevan-Meghri road, resulting in a one-way closure of an approximately 200-meter section.
