Yerevan Community to Become One of the City’s Sanitation Operators
In order to properly organize snow removal operations in the capital, the Yerevan Municipality has acquired 9 new specialized vehicles. The winning bidder in the tender is the Russian company "KAMAZ." Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan personally inspected the capabilities of the new equipment.
In addition to snow removal, these vehicles are also intended for spreading salt and sand. During the warmer months, they can serve as water trucks to ensure the cleanliness of Yerevan’s streets.
The sanitation company “Sanitek,” which has been responsible for cleaning the capital, has recently faced various challenges that hinder its operations, one of which is the breakdown of vehicles.
“This is just the beginning and a small part of the equipment we will be acquiring. In the near future, the community will also have its own equipment for waste collection. We are looking at having two or three operators, taking into account international experience, one of which could be the Yerevan community itself. Negotiations are already underway, and as a result, the community will also become an operator within this year,” stated Hayk Marutyan.
