Materials Being Prepared Against Mark Grigoryan
The former director of Public Radio, Mark Grigoryan, is facing the preparation of materials against him. This was reported to Haykakan Jamanak by the press office of the Armenian Police: "We have received information from the prosecution, according to which there have been abuses of power by the executive director of Public Radio."
The Armenian Police stated that the materials against the former director are being prepared solely based on press publications, and there have been no personal complaints from Public Radio.
Mark Grigoryan had submitted his resignation on December 19, 2018, after a meeting with dozens of radio staff members who demanded his resignation. Earlier, on December 18, a group of Public Radio employees had announced their intention to go on strike, stating that since Mark Grigoryan took the executive director's position, issues of misconduct have increased significantly.
The acting executive director of Public Radio has been appointed as Yervand Poghosyan, the station's financial deputy director, who, however, does not see himself in this role. "I am an economist and have held the position of deputy director for finance; I am a specialist in that area, and the director of the radio should be someone a bit more creative," Yervand Poghosyan told Haykakan Jamanak.
Poghosyan also communicated that no competition has yet been announced for the vacant director position. "It has not been announced yet; I currently have no information on the timelines," he added.
The acting executive director noted that the radio staff is currently working normally.
