Former Convict Encourages 14-Year-Old to Engage in Street Trading: City Hall

Today, Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan held a working consultation at the City Hall and discussed a number of issues.

To prohibit outdoor illegal trading and eliminate the phenomenon, evening shifts have been established. The first result was recorded on January 16, when a person with three previous convictions was found engaging in outdoor illegal trade in Northern Avenue, involving a 14-year-old teenager. Relevant measures have been taken in connection with the incident in collaboration with the police. It was noted that the sector's responsible representatives have met with several citizens involved in outdoor illegal trading to discuss and suggest solutions to the problem.

Mayor Hayk Marutyan instructed to continue the consistent work and reminded that there are no exceptions or privileges in the capital, and that everyone is equal before the law.

It was also reported to the mayor that after a prolonged period of explanatory work, two illegal constructions at Kurginyan 12/4 in the Malatia-Sebastia administrative district (a stone unauthorized construction built on community-owned land was used as a chicken coop) and near the unauthorized construction at 2/4 in Avan Arinj 2nd micro-district are being dismantled by the citizens themselves.

The mayor noted to the heads of administrative districts that significant work must be done in this direction. Additionally, employees who underperform must be replaced.
