Car License Plates in Russia to Be Issued Based on Registration Location

The Main Directorate for Road Traffic Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation intends to obligate drivers to obtain license plates based on their place of registration.

According to police sources, the new regulation will allow for the analysis and forecasting of regional development and the state of traffic regulations.

"Kommersant" reports that the new rule will come into effect on August 4 of this year, along with amendments to the law on the state registration of vehicles.
