Total Lunar Eclipse of the Supermoon Expected: The 'Blood Moon' Phenomenon
An extraordinary natural event will occur on the night of January 21, as a total lunar eclipse of a supermoon is expected, reports The Guardian, according to tert.am.
The publication details that the Moon will spend 62 minutes in the deepest part of Earth’s shadow. During this time, the celestial body will take on a reddish-brown hue due to atmospheric effects, resulting in the observation of the 'Blood Moon' phenomenon.
Residents of Asia, Australia, and New Zealand will not have the opportunity to witness this event.
Overall, the total eclipse will last for more than 3 hours and 20 minutes.
This year, three supermoons will be observed on January 21, February 19, and March 21.
The next total lunar eclipse will occur on May 26, 2021.
