Robbery of Rafael Kotanjian Revealed

On December 30, the Public Relations and Media Department of the Police released a video showing two men casually talking as they approached popular artist Rafael Kotanjian from behind.

During this time, one of them openly seized Kotanjian's wallet and fled the scene. The wallet contained cash, cards, and identification documents. The incident occurred at the underpass stairs at the intersection of Abovyan and Isahakyan streets in the capital city. A criminal case was initiated on the grounds of robbery.

Thanks to the joint operational and investigative measures taken by the Criminal Investigation Department of the National Police of the Republic of Armenia, the Yerevan Directorate, and the Central Police Department, the identities of the individuals involved in the crime were established, leading to the resolution of the case.

On January 17, early in the morning, officers from the aforementioned units and the 3rd special battalion of the Patrol Service apprehended Georgian citizen A. Shamilov at one of the houses on American Street in the Noragugh neighborhood of Yerevan on suspicion of involvement in the crime.

He has confessed to the crime. Efforts are underway to locate his accomplice, Georgian citizen A. Ananikian, and bring him to justice.
