Increase of H1N1 Virus Observed in Armenia: 432 Children Denied School Attendance, Says Vanyan

It is not the case that this virus did not exist in Armenia and that borders needed to be closed to prevent its entry. This was stated today by Artavazd Vanyan, the head of the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia, adding that this year the A type of H1N1 virus is circulating at a rate of 90 percent.

“Currently, 1251 individuals have sought medical attention at clinics, 693 patients are receiving inpatient treatment, and 103 emergency calls have been registered,” he said.

Vanyan noted that an increase in the virus has been observed.

“In Armenia, 432 children have been denied the opportunity to attend school or kindergarten,” Vanyan stated.

According to him, a lower-than-normal temperature has been recorded in several schools and kindergartens, primarily in the regions.

“People think that the flu is not a serious illness; they say, ‘I have the flu, but I will go to work,’ and this is the main propagation of the infection. There are vulnerable groups that have chronic illnesses, meaning that the flu can exacerbate conditions and can quickly lead to death. We urge chronic patients to get vaccinated,” Artavazd Vanyan emphasized, requesting that people get vaccinated and avoid complications.
