H1N1: South Ossetia Closes Border with Georgia
South Ossetia will close its border with Georgia starting January 11th at 21:00 Yerevan time until further notice due to the threat of the H1N1 influenza virus entering the republic. This was reported by the press service of the State Security Committee of South Ossetia.
It was noted that on January 10th, the Security Council of South Ossetia held an emergency meeting regarding the spread of the H1N1 strain of influenza (swine flu) in Georgia.
Additionally, on January 10th, Amiran Gamkrelidze, the director of the National Center for Disease Control of Georgia's Ministry of Health, confirmed that the virus has claimed 13 lives, as reported by TASS.
