Pashinyan Named Political Figure of the Year by Respected Publication
Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has been recognized as the Political Figure of the Year by the readers of the renowned Russian newspaper "Vedomosti." This accolade is part of Vedomosti's traditional special project where the editorial team and readers choose outstanding individuals in six categories.
The newspaper's editorial board selected German Chancellor Angela Merkel as the Political Figure of the Year, while readers favored Armenia's leader. The publication briefly reflected on the events in Armenia that took place in April and May, along with the subsequent parliamentary snap elections. Furthermore, Vedomosti referred to the occurrences in Armenia as a "colorful revolution."
Pashinyan addressed this news on his Facebook page, expressing his appreciation for being recognized as Political Figure of the Year by the readership of a prestigious Russian publication.
“However, I believe it is essential to firmly establish that what took place in Armenia was not a 'colorful' revolution but rather a Nonviolent, Velvet, People's Revolution. There is a significant difference between the two,” Pashinyan wrote.
It is worth noting that yesterday, Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. Today, the office of Armenia's second president, Robert Kocharyan, reported that Putin congratulated Kocharyan on the occasion of New Year.
