New Ambassadors Appointed in the Czech Republic and Ukraine
The President of Armenia, Armen Sarkissian, has issued a decree appointing a number of ambassadors.
Specifically, Tigran Sargsyan has been relieved of his duties as Armenia's ambassador to the Czech Republic and has been appointed as ambassador to Ukraine.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ashot Hovakimyan, has been appointed as ambassador to the Czech Republic.
Artak Apitonyan, the ambassador of Armenia to Sweden and Finland, has been recalled from his position.
Below, we present the biographies of the newly appointed ambassadors.
Tigran Sargsyan was born on May 6, 1976. He has served as Armenia’s extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador to the Czech Republic and Slovakia since 2012.
From 1992 to 1995, he held the position of attaché at the consular department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, later serving as a third and then second secretary, and then as acting head of the legal department.
From 1995 to 1998, he was the first secretary and consulate officer at the Armenian Embassy in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
From 1998 to 2000, he served as the head of the consular department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, initially as acting head and then as the appointed head.
From 2000 to 2003, he was a secretary and consular officer at the Armenian Embassy in the United States.
From 2003 to 2011, he was the head of the consular department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.
On June 30, 2011, he was appointed by the President of Armenia as the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Czech Republic.
