Round-the-Clock Checkpoints Established in Syunik, Aragatsotn, and Gegharkunik Regions

By order of Acting Minister of Emergency Situations Felix Tsolakyan, temporary checkpoints have been established in the Syunik, Gegharkunik, and Aragatsotn regions of Armenia starting December 27. The purpose of these checkpoints is to transport people and vehicles to safe areas during snowstorms and to provide first aid.

Five rescuers are providing 24-hour service at the mobile checkpoints, ready to offer quick and effective assistance to citizens stranded on the roads by supplying hot food and first aid.

The round-the-clock checkpoints are located at:

  • In the community of Gorayk, Syunik region, and at the 17th kilometer of the Sisian-Goris interstate highway
  • At the 12th kilometer of the Aparan-Spitak highway in the Aragatsotn region, within the administrative territory of Alagyaz community
  • At the 27th kilometer of the Vardenis-Martakert republican highway in the Gegharkunik region

The selection of locations for the checkpoints was discussed with the heads of regional emergency management departments. It was decided to deploy tents in areas deemed most dangerous during snowstorms, black ice, and road blockages. If necessary, the ministry is prepared to establish similar tents in other regions as well.

In case of complications to the operational situation, the Rescue Service's territorial subdivisions will cooperate with organizations engaged in road construction, repair, and maintenance to provide necessary assistance and support to citizens. They will work in shifts, and additional forces will join the rescue operations if required.
