Suspect in Mother and Son Murder Attempted to Leave Armenia, Police Say

Thanks to extensive operational-search measures undertaken by various police departments, an individual suspected of committing murder was detained while attempting to leave Armenia.

The police reminded that on December 24, at 10:50 AM, they received a report at the Tavush Police Department stating that a mother and son had been murdered in one of the houses on Utiqi Street in Berd.

The dispatched operational group determined that between December 23, at 9:30 PM, and December 24, at 10:30 AM, a 57-year-old man and an 87-year-old woman had been killed with a sharp cutting-piercing instrument. A forensic examination has been scheduled.

A criminal case has been initiated under the first part of Article 104 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. The investigation is ongoing. The police will provide additional details about the incident.
