Pashinyan Expresses Satisfaction While Leaving Real Problems Due to His Poor Governance: Ashotyan
In a recent Facebook post, Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Vice President Armen Ashotyan stated that their contribution and merit in recognizing these elections as the first unchallenged results in the Constitutional Court is far greater than that of Nikol Pashinyan.
Ashotyan specifically noted:
"Nikol Pashinyan, having left the real problems of the country arising from his poor governance, stated with satisfaction yesterday that this year’s elections were the first whose results were not contested in the Constitutional Court.
At first glance, this assertion may seem opportunistic; however, in reality, it has nothing to do with Nikol Pashinyan.
The elections of 2017 were also uncontested, to the extent that the YELQ Alliance accepted their outcomes, while the Armenian National Congress (ANC), which went to the Constitutional Court, did so simply for political revenge, having garnered only 1.65% of the votes and possessing no real grounds for contesting the results.
In fact, the ANC sought to go to the Constitutional Court to 'ruin' the parliamentary elections of 2017.
The elections of 2018 were marked by extensive use of governmental resources, administrative pressures, law enforcement intervention, and numerous reports and incidents in the press regarding electoral law violations. Our decision not to appeal to the Constitutional Court cannot be interpreted as a record of an impeccable and blessed electoral process. It was, in fact, a dignified and state-oriented decision made in light of the foreign and domestic challenges that the country faced in recent months. We decided not to 'mar' the elections.
Anyone who knows, especially Nikol Pashinyan, is well aware of how these elections actually went. Moreover, after the inevitable change of power in Armenia, many horrifying facts that occurred during these elections and their results will quickly become public property, as they took place with the testimony and involvement of thousands of people, many of whom may be afraid to speak today but will feel compelled to relieve their conscience and raise their voices to share the truth.
Therefore, our contribution and merit in recognizing these elections as the first unchallenged results in the Constitutional Court is far greater than that of Nikol Pashinyan."
