Armenians and Azerbaijanis Must Live Together: Mamedyarov
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Elmar Mamedyarov, stated in an interview with Interfax Azerbaijan that Baku is ready to ensure the security of the Armenian population of Artsakh and to grant them a high level of self-governance rights. He also mentioned that the Muslim community living in the Nagorno-Karabakh region is prepared to return to those areas.
“Our country, just as it guarantees the safety of citizens from other ethnic groups, is ready to fulfill its international obligations towards citizens of Armenian descent in Nagorno-Karabakh. You know, it is impossible to take land and move to another place along with it. After the resolution of the conflict, these two communities must, of course, live together. That is why it is important to restore the ties between the Armenian and Azerbaijani communities,” said the head of Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry, asserting that before the war, Armenians and Azerbaijanis had established connections in Artsakh that were “unfortunately severed” due to the actions of the former leadership of Armenia.
