Prosecutor's Office to Appeal Decision to Release Manvel Grigoryan on Bail

The Prosecutor's Office of Armenia will file an appeal against the first-instance court's decision to release former President of the Yerkrapah Volunteer Union, Lieutenant General Manvel Grigoryan, on bail.

This was announced to Tert.am by the head of the public relations department of the Prosecutor's Office, Arevik Khachatryan.

“The Prosecutor's Office has received the court's decision, which is unfounded, and the Prosecutor's Office will appeal against this decision,” said Arevik Khachatryan.

It is noteworthy that the judge of the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, Davit Balayan, had yesterday granted the request of Manvel Grigoryan’s lawyers and replaced his custody with bail. Manvel Grigoryan was released from custody upon posting bail of 25 million drams.

Manvel Grigoryan is accused of illegally acquiring and possessing military supplies, as well as stealing especially large amounts of property.
