Nothing has collapsed: Putin on relations with Armenia

“We have smooth relations with Armenia. Nothing has collapsed on our side that requires restoration. Armenia is our strategic partner in the region and globally, a member of the CSTO and EAEU,” said Russian President Vladimir Putin during his annual large press conference, responding to a question from a journalist from Armenia regarding how Russia plans to restore its political relations with Armenia after the snap parliamentary elections.

“What does it mean to restore relations? Nothing has collapsed on our side. Armenia is our strategic partner globally and regionally, a member of the CSTO and EAEU. There is nothing to restore; we need to develop what exists based on the foundation created by previous leaders. This has historically been the case, this is the case, and I hope it will continue to be so. We must act taking into account the current situation in the world and the region. We will discuss these matters with Mr. Pashinyan in the near future, as he will visit next week,” Putin emphasized, noting that the Armenian people are historical allies of the Russian people.
