I Want People to Know the Truth: Sirusho Speaks About Robert Kocharian
The press that follows orders spared no effort in distorting the true nature of a person. This was stated by singer Sirushon on her Facebook page, addressing the events surrounding her father-in-law, the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharian.
In her post, she specifically mentions:
“Years ago, we had a conversation, and I said, ‘Do you know that active work is being done against you on the internet, trying to erase your past and attributing false accusations to you? Perhaps you should refute them or say something?’ He responded with characteristic balance that it’s impossible for intelligent people to believe that. He said, ‘My work has been in front of people’s eyes; they see the work and appreciate it.’
Unfortunately, that did not happen.
The press that follows orders exerted all efforts to distort the true nature of the individual. I realized that the longer you remain silent, the more stories are invented about you to the point where what you have done and what you see with your own eyes begin to have absolutely no connection.
Flattery, lies, and professional manipulation have blinded many, which is horrifying and cannot fail to have serious consequences for all of us. As a person who has dedicated my creative path to Armenian culture and its dissemination (which I believe no longer needs proof), I cannot help but notice or be indifferent to everything that is happening in our country today… And considering that I see more deeply and from the inside how mercilessly people are being deceived, I feel much more pain.
Believe me, it is harder to remain silent while knowing that my words might be perceived as subjective, but those who know me understand that I have my principles, and whether a friend or family, I will never stand beside injustice.
Measured, caring, compassionate, diligent, and just – this is his nature: an indescribably great and challenging journey traversed, yet never weakened, and never losing his positive and exemplary human nature.
My wish is for people to know the truth – the REAL truth about everything and everyone, without any hesitation, and then let them judge or form opinions about people and events.
I prefer to stand on the side where there is, albeit currently unappreciated, genuine patriotism proven by actions.”
