5 Arrested for Insulting Erdogan on Social Media

In Antalya, Turkey, 9 people have been arrested on suspicion of insulting President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. A Turkish court has decided to remand 5 of them in custody, while 4 others were released.

Reports indicate that their social media posts regarding Erdogan were the basis for their arrest, as reported by Ermenihaber. However, details about the identities of those detained and the content of their posts have not been disclosed.

It is noteworthy that a month ago, 9 people were also arrested in Antalya for allegedly insulting Erdogan and the founder of the Republic of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Subsequently, one of them was remanded in custody, while the others were released.
