When the names of the National Assembly Speaker and committee chairs will be published
Before the end of the week, the names of the National Assembly Speaker and committee chairs will be announced. This was stated by Acting Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan in an interview with NEWS.am.
“I think we will finally understand who will be where in the legislature and in the executive by the end of the week. Nevertheless, we will look according to the correspondence of abilities and skills, and who will be more useful where,” he said.
Avinyan added that they have discussed the names of potential candidates for the Speaker of the National Assembly and that the final picture will be clear by next week. “In my opinion, the real opposition will be within the ‘My Step’ faction,” Avinyan stated. According to him, “in a faction of 88 individuals, representing various political views, there will inevitably be some clashes, discussions, and criticism among each other, and I believe we will not have an issue of real opposition because there will be similar criticism within the ‘My Step’ alliance.”
When asked whether he sees the Prosperous Armenia and Bright Armenia parties in the role of the opposition, Tigran Avinyan responded, “If we are talking about formal opposition, I definitely see that, because it is evident that a coalition will not be formed with these two parties, and therefore they will be formal oppositions. However, what kind of opposition they will actually be, time will tell.”
As for how this parliament will differ from previous parliaments, Avinyan said he is confident that this parliament will be as political as possible. “The people who will be represented in the parliament are political people,” he stated.
When asked which wing of power he is inclined to operate within, he mentioned that his experience is more aligned with the executive, but he also believes he can be helpful in their faction and to the Armenian people within the legislature.
