Over 3 Million Hacking Attempts on Armenian State Websites in 11 Months: NSS

“In the eleven months of this year, there have been 3 million hacking attempts on the official websites of state structures in Armenia, and these are considered attempts because they did not reach their intended targets. The hacking attempts have not only come from Azerbaijan but also from European countries,” said Colonel Armen Kinakhtsyan, head of the NSS scientific-educational center today.

In response to a question from Tert.am’s correspondent regarding the motivations behind these attempts and the countries from which they originated, Kinakhtsyan stated that Azerbaijan could hire a hacking group from another country; therefore, it is not essential to identify the origin of the attacks.

He noted that the discussion pertains solely to the websites of state structures, as these fall under the jurisdiction of the NSS. Kinakhtsyan mentioned that there have been instances where the functioning of the websites slowed down, but the attacks have not achieved their goals.
