Police Department 6 Conducts Operations in Nor Geghi
Today, the main department of the police's special anti-organized crime unit, along with the popularly known ‘6th special force,’ has been conducting intensive operations in Nor Geghi of the Kotayk province since early morning, reports Shamshyan.com.
The media outlet states that searches have been carried out in the homes of several residents in the village of Nor Geghi, some of whom are considered authorities in the village while others have criminal backgrounds. As a result, a large number of villagers suspected of illegal activities have been transferred to the Kotayk Regional Police Department.
The police justify this operation as a measure to alleviate the tense situation in the village, expressing concerns that vendettas may occur, especially following the decision by Kotayk Governor Romanos Petrosyan to appoint V. Papyan as the acting village head. This decision has led to a division in the village, resulting in several days of protests.
