I, Putin, and Nazarbayev Asked Pashinyan One Question: Lukashenko

“It is a disgrace when we are unable to choose the head of the CSTO,” stated Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, presenting the situation that has prevailed in the organization in recent months.

He declared that Armenia is the one that has put the organization in this position, thus the Armenian side should make concessions regarding the appointment of a new secretary general. Lukashenko noted that instead of the 'retiree' proposed by the Armenian side, he suggested a young general who could enhance the organization's reputation, and he has sent this general, Stanislav Zas, to meet with the leaders of the CSTO member states.

“If you are willing to accept him, listen to him... You can disagree with his candidacy, you can adhere to your principles. But talk to him. Maybe he will be better for you than any Armenian. What are you afraid of from the Belarusians? After all, we are one of you,” said Lukashenko, addressing the Armenian side indirectly.

Revealing what was discussed behind closed doors at the meeting of the EAEU leaders in Saint Petersburg, Lukashenko stated that both the presidents of Russia and Kazakhstan asked Pashinyan one question—why he has not called and consulted before making important decisions. “We did not create the problem, rather, it was Pashinyan,” he emphasized.
