Do Not Politicize: Russian Embassy Comments on High-Profile Incident in Gyumri

The Russian Embassy in Armenia has issued a statement on its Facebook page regarding the detention of a Russian serviceman in Gyumri.

"We have paid attention to the continuous flow of emotional commentary regarding the tragic incident in Gyumri. We once again call for this topic not to be politicized, for hasty conclusions not to be drawn, and for the Armenian investigative bodies to be allowed to carry out their work. We also wish to express our condolences to the relatives and loved ones of the victim," the statement reads.

It should be noted that on December 11, the Armenian prosecution announced that one of the servicemen stationed at the 102nd military base in Gyumri had been arrested in connection with the murder of a female cleaner. Earlier, a criminal case had been initiated regarding the death of a 57-year-old woman in Gyumri on December 3. The woman died due to severe bodily injuries.
