A Part of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Border to Be Secured by Azerbaijani Border Guards; Troop Concentrations May Increase Elsewhere

The Azerbaijani side of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in the Kazakh and Astafah sections will now be monitored by the state border service, following instructions from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. These areas are adjacent to the Tavush region.

This information was shared by Azerbaijani studies expert Ashot Movsisyan.

“Apparently, some units from the combat battalions of the Defense Ministry’s 3rd Corps are being transferred to border guard troops. This is an extremely interesting development, especially in the context of various statements regarding the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict,” Movsisyan noted on his Facebook page.

According to him, this also indicates that a portion of the Azerbaijani armed forces may be deployed in other directions, which is undesirable for the Armenian side.
