Why CSTO Countries Did Not Congratulate Armenia: Analyst
In connection with the parliamentary elections, the CIS, EAEU, or if you prefer, the CSTO countries have not congratulated Armenia. Most likely, this is related to the arrest of Kocharian.
This was stated by political analyst Stepan Danielyan on his Facebook page. Below is his post.
“No leader in the CIS region has yet been arrested. The former president of Kyrgyzstan has found asylum in Belarus, the former president of Ukraine Yanukovych in Russia, and Saakashvili is in the West, essentially in asylum, despite the fact that a criminal case has been opened against him. At one time, the former president of Georgia, Gamsakhurdia, was killed, but he was not arrested.
It can be said that there exists an unwritten law of solidarity among presidents.
There was once a principle in Europe that kings are not killed, which was also a principle of solidarity among kings; in extreme cases, they were sent into honorable exile, while being killed on the battlefield was seen as an act of bravery. A few such cases are considered extraordinary. This is their instinct for self-preservation or principle; if someone of your status is punished in such a way, then tomorrow it could happen to you.
Even Napoleon was first sent into honorable exile under good conditions, and the second time under more modest conditions, taking into account his previous escape.
In connection with the parliamentary elections, the CIS, EAEU, or if you prefer, the CSTO countries have not congratulated Armenia. Most likely, this is related to the arrest of Kocharian. For the leaders of those countries, this is already not an issue of interstate relations, but a very personal matter.
Thus, Armenia is finding itself in a hostile environment, driven by the personal motives of the leaders of those countries.”
