Video: Do you think you should import cars under the guise of donations? Ananyan responds to car importers
People are protesting near the government building, expressing their dissatisfaction over losing the legal ability to donate a second car without paying taxes.
“Until now, the law was as follows: an individual is allowed to sell one car, while the second can be donated. The law has been changed by the previous government in their own way, and no one has been informed,” stated the participants of the protest.
The protesters suggest that the government eliminate taxes on donations and set a fixed fee, similar to what is done in neighboring Georgia, allowing them to pay and import cars.
In response to the protestors, Acting Head of the State Revenue Committee Davit Ananyan remarked, “Did you not know that if you formalize a donation, you have to pay taxes? Did you not know that as someone engaged in entrepreneurial activities, you have to pay taxes? Importing and selling cars is a business.”
Ananyan indicated that the protesters can submit their proposals to his deputy, and it will be discussed in the government. “But if you think you should import cars under the guise of donations, that will not happen,” he added.
