US Embassy Warns Citizens to Remain Vigilant When Visiting Armenia

The US Embassy in Armenia has urged American citizens to be vigilant when visiting the country during the holiday season.

“During the holidays, the US Embassy reminds American citizens of the need to remain alert. The number of thefts, pickpocketing, and residential burglaries may increase during this period,” states a notice posted on the embassy's website.

The embassy warns of ongoing threats posed by terrorist organizations and individuals with extremist ideologies.

“Extremists continue to focus on tourist locations, such as shopping malls, airports, clubs, and restaurants.” In response to this announcement, Ashot Aharonyan, head of the public relations and information department of the Police of the Republic of Armenia, assured that the criminal situation in Armenia is under control and that the country is safe for tourists.
