Soldier Shoots Himself; Doctors are Fighting for His Life

On December 11, a suicide attempt occurred in one of the regions.

According to reports from Shamshyan.com, the regional medical center notified the local police that a citizen had been admitted with a diagnosis of "gunshot wound to the intercostal surface of the left thigh upper 1/3 and the external genitalia."

As photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan informs, the operational group of the local police and an investigator from the local investigative department rushed to the hospital.

Police officers and investigators found out that the individual admitted to the hospital is 26-year-old Vardan Shahnazaryan, who, on the same day at around 4:40 PM, shot himself with a 16mm caliber single-barreled smoothbore hunting rifle in an attempt to commit suicide at his home.

Upon arriving at his residence, police discovered the firearm, and V. Shahnazaryan's relatives have already provided explanations to the police and investigators regarding the incident.

According to G. Shamshyan's information, V. Shahnazaryan is a serviceman in one of the units of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia.
