Revelation: Prosperous Armenia Party Used 390 Fake Accounts During Election Campaign
The Prosperous Armenia Party used a total of 390 fake Facebook accounts during its election campaign to create the impression of high online support.
This is reported by the civic organization "Informed Citizens Union," whose fact-checking team successfully infiltrated one of the structures, revealing the following information:
"Thus, the civic organization ‘United Leaders Palace’ operating alongside the Prosperous Armenia Party is led by the assistant of MP Vahe Enfiajyan, Liana Manukyan. Despite being registered as the MP's assistant, this 21-year-old girl managed to lead the NGO known as ‘MAP,’ whose mission was to promote positive propaganda for Vahe Enfiajyan on Facebook. Members of the organization were divided into several groups, each of which was assigned usernames and passwords for five fake Facebook accounts, which they were obligated to use for their work.
According to a predetermined plan, our team's representative, Ophelia Simonyan, successfully joined the ‘army of fakes.’ After a successful interview with Liana Manukyan, an agreement was reached that Ophelia would handle the PR for the Prosperous Armenia Party in exchange for a monthly payment of 100,000 drams. However, no contract for work or service provision was signed, and Ophelia was not registered with tax authorities (which is an administrative violation).
A few days after the agreement, Liana Manukyan added our teammate to a special Facebook group from which directives were to be given.
The NGO presented the five fake account usernames that Liana Manukyan had passed to their teammate and emphasized that if there were any potential threats against their teammate Ophelia Simonyan from the youth structures of the Prosperous Armenia Party, the Informed Citizens Union would address law enforcement agencies.
