Discussion on Replacing Serzh Sargsyan Within the Republican Party

According to information from the "Past" newspaper, the aftermath of the snap parliamentary elections has not been calm within the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA).

"The issue is not just the bitter disappointment that this party did not make it to the parliament. The problem is that, according to our sources, there has been a serious clash of opinions regarding the acceptance or rejection of the election results, as well as concerning some actions of Serzh Sargsyan.

A number of Republicans insist that it is necessary to challenge the election results. However, many find it inappropriate to escalate the situation at this stage, considering public sentiments, as well as the fact that it will be quite difficult to present certain facts that would be somewhat convincing," the newspaper writes.

Sources within the RPA claim that several party members harbor deep dissatisfaction towards Serzh Sargsyan, who, in their view, has effectively sabotaged the party by running for Prime Minister in April and unilaterally including Davit Shahnazaryan and Artashes Geghamyan in the election list, involving them actively in the campaign.

The publication does not rule out that the question of changing the party leadership could indeed be raised in the near future.
