Reasons for Passive Participation According to Pashinyan
Who can say how many voters there are in Armenia today? Let’s conduct monitoring and see what has been discussed and emphasized by the opposition and international organizations since the elections of recent years. This was stated by the acting Prime Minister of Armenia and the leader of the ‘My Step’ alliance, Nikol Pashinyan, in response to journalists’ questions regarding the low voter turnout.
“That number includes absent voters, deceased voters, and people who are not in the country. In the end, let’s not forget that people have gone to the polls of their own volition; no one has forced them. And then, people do not see intrigue in these elections, because household members, neighbors, relatives, upper neighbors, colleagues at work, and friends vote in favor of the ‘My Step’ alliance, saying, ‘Well, it’s cold today, so I will stay at home,’” he said.
