‘One Is Choosing By Hinting Each Other’ - Investigative Committee Provides Details
As of 18:00, the Armenian Investigative Committee reported receiving 12 complaints regarding electoral violations recorded during the National Assembly's early elections, which allegedly contain elements of criminal offenses as defined by the Criminal Code.
The Investigative Committee states that 1 report was received from Yerevan, 4 from Syunik, 4 from Shirak, and 1 each from Vayots Dzor, Ararat, and Armavir regions.
Of the reported violations, 10 concern attempts at double voting, 1 pertains to the breach of voting secrecy, and 1 involves obstructing the free will of the voter.
According to materials received by the investigative department of the Shengavit administrative district, citizen A. Lalayan wrote on his Facebook page that at polling station 8/19, citizens “are choosing by hinting at each other and showing their ballot to those next to them.”
Regarding an incident recorded at polling station 35/61 in Meghri, Syunik region, a resident born in 1960 attempted to assist her sister, who is also registered with the Syunik Regional Neuropsychiatric Dispensary, in voting after she had cast her own vote. However, she mistakenly presented her identification card, resulting in an attempted double vote registration.
The necessary procedural actions are being undertaken by the territorial divisions of the Armenian Investigative Committee to verify the circumstances mentioned in the complaints.
We will provide updates regarding the results.
