Has Osipyan Added Someone to Shahnazaryan's Address? Police Clarification

The Armenian police have released a clarification stating: “Information spread through mass media has been reported by Davit Shahnazaryan, claiming that an unknown individual has been added to the address of Police Chief Valeriy Osipyan.

According to the data available in the voters' register, three individuals are registered at the address 15 Agayan Street, Building 2: Lilit Daviti Shahnazaryan, Davit Gurgeni Shahnazaryan, and Anahit Yegishi Sogoyan.

Furthermore, Anahit Sogoyan has been registered at this address significantly earlier than the other two individuals, on August 1, 2000. Mr. Shahnazaryan is at least well aware that Valeriy Osipyan was appointed as the police chief not before August 1, 2000, but in 2018.

We have reiterated many times that the police do not have the authority to remove former residents from registration in residential areas of their own initiative; their address can only be changed upon registration at their new residence or at the request of the owner.

As for who the owner of the mentioned residential space is, that is something the individual making the declaration would know. If they are the owner, they have the right to remove former residents from the registration if they do not live there.”
