I Would Not Call Armenia's Government Anti-Russian: Suren Sargsyan
The Armenian authorities have not taken any effective steps against Russian vital interests in the region and in Armenia over the past eight years. This was stated by international expert Suren Sargsyan.
“Armenia continues to remain a member of the CSTO and the EAEU, Russia is still Armenia's largest trading partner, the Armenian nuclear power plant continues to be serviced jointly with Russia, and a Russian military base remains stationed in Armenia. Therefore, claims regarding sovereignty and steps to free oneself from Russian influence are at least irrelevant to reality.
As for the verbal disputes at the lower and middle levels, they exist exclusively within the framework of rhetoric. Moreover, at the highest level, relations are quite warm, and interactions are active (by the way, similar relations do not exist with the European-oriented leaders of Ukraine and Georgia). Therefore, I would not call the Armenian authorities anti-Russian, nor would I say that the Russian authorities will obstruct the reproduction of Armenia's current government. Moreover, after the elections, I would not be surprised if one of the first, if not the first, to congratulate the Armenian authorities on their victory would be the President of Russia. I would be glad to hear opposing opinions and arguments,” he wrote.
