They Want to Destroy the European Union: Kaja Kallas

The European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, has stated that Russia, China, and the United States are not interested in the existence of a united Europe. According to the official, major international actors aim to see a divided European Union because, in the case of a unified bloc, European countries become an incomparably more powerful political and economic force.

These statements were published by Politico. During the Lennart Meri Conference in Tallinn, Kallas noted that it is much easier for major external powers to build bilateral relations with separate, geographically and economically smaller states than with an entire alliance that represents equals. In this context, she emphasized that by presenting a united front, the European Union becomes a global force acting on equal terms.

Referring to the policies pursued by Washington, the EU Commissioner added that maintaining good relations with individual countries while simultaneously criticizing the structure of the European Union fits into the US strategy of “divide and conquer.”
