Volodin's Controversial Statement About Armenia

The sowing of Western liberal values and persecution of the church are leading to the fragmentation of Armenian society and the loss of unity. This was stated by the Chairman of the State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin, according to RIA Novosti.

“We are already seeing attempts to rewrite history and undermine national and traditional foundations. The Armenian people are being indoctrinated with Western liberal values, and there is a persecution against the church. All this leads to societal fragmentation. Perhaps this is the greatest loss that can happen in Armenia — the loss of unity,” Volodin wrote on his channel on the Max platform.

The State Duma Chairman made historical parallels, recalling the events in Ukraine in 2014 and the example of the Baltic States, which sought to become part of the European Union. However, “as time has shown, they have not become happier because of it.” He emphasized that the choice of path should primarily be based on the will of the people. In his view, a politician, regardless of the title they hold, must be guided by this principle.
