Pashinyan Makes a Statement

"We will not allow guarantors to use us and throw us away; they have used us against others before," stated Nikol Pashinyan during a campaign event.

“Today, there are political forces that say we need guarantors. The topic of guarantors is actually a very sensitive issue for us because sometimes we forget that we have lived under such a regime where we had a binding contractual legal framework, where we had security guarantors who were supposed to ensure our safety. However, one of those security guarantors, the President of Belarus, made a very open and transparent statement while on an official visit to Baku, admitting that he participated in the preparations for the 44-day war. That person was one of our security guarantors and a member of the Collective Security Treaty Organization. We say that, in the end, we must overcome the cycle where we allow others to use us against others and throw us away. This has become a disgraceful cycle in our history, and this is the most important political change we have recorded: we will no longer allow others to use us against others and throw us away. There’s nothing disrespectful about that toward any country or entity. The Republic of Armenia is more reputable on the international stage than ever before,” Pashinyan emphasized.
