He is Not a Politician: Avinyan on Marutyan

In the first round, I did not vote for Haik. Marutyan's candidacy did not suit me at all because he was not a political person, and it is very important in politics for a person to be political.

This was stated by the mayor of Yerevan, Tigran Avinyan, in an interview with Tete A Tete. “He is not a politician. Starting from the fact that one must arrive at work on time to be present and able to respond to calls, you must be proactive in solving your problems. Yerevan is a huge city that requires complex solutions; it is not just about showing up and showcasing a few things. Sometimes you have to make difficult decisions that may incur criticism, and you will hear negative comments, but you must not be afraid of those decisions because if you are a politician, you need to understand that sometimes unpopular short-term decisions will lead to negativity, but after some time, they will yield results.

If you do not make those decisions, you are simply transferring your problems to the shoulders of the next official. If he were an effective mayor, I think he would still be the mayor today,” Avinyan added.
