Iran Presents 5 Demands, No Response from the US

Iran will not commence the second phase of negotiations with the United States unless Washington meets five demands. This was reported by the Fars news agency, citing sources.

The agency notes that these conditions serve as guarantees of trust for negotiations with the United States.

  1. End of war on all fronts, particularly in Lebanon.
  2. Lift anti-Iranian sanctions.
  3. Unfreeze Iranian assets.
  4. Compensation for damages caused by military operations.
  5. Recognition of Iran's sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz.

“These conditions are set exclusively within the framework of creating a minimum level of trust to return to the negotiation process, and Tehran believes that without the practical implementation of these points, it will be impossible to start new negotiations,” the statement said.

Iran has presented these five demands in response to the US's 14-point proposal for peace. Sources from the agency indicated that the US proposals were unilateral and aimed at securing Washington's interests: “With this proposal, the Americans were trying to achieve goals through negotiations that they could not attain during the war,” Fars reports, citing sources.
