Education Ministry Investigates School Participation in Electoral Campaign in Aragatsotn Province
The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport is conducting an investigation regarding instances of school participation in the electoral campaign in Aragatsotn province. This was reported by the Ministry itself.
“Since the start of the pre-election campaigning for the National Assembly elections, the Ministry has been receiving alerts from educators, staff, and students about participating in the campaign during working hours and classes, which is in violation of the prohibition on campaigning in educational institutions,” the statement reads.
One of the incidents was recorded today, on May 13, in the town of Aparan, where several teachers and students from educational institutions in the villages of Aragats and Kuchak participated in a political campaign during working hours. The Ministry will initiate a separate investigation to clarify the details of the incident and will impose the legal consequences as defined by law, in collaboration with the relevant authority.
All reports received by the Ministry are also being forwarded to law enforcement agencies for the purpose of investigation. The Ministry underscores the importance of the apolitical operation of educational institutions and reaffirms that educational establishments must operate free of political processes, ensuring an impartial and neutral environment for education. Such instances are under strict scrutiny, and any similar manifestations will be subject to appropriate responses and legal consequences,” the statement further elaborated.
